03 Getting started

Four steps, then you are running

Setup is short on purpose. Nothing here requires an account, an email address or a password that lives on someone else's server.

  1. Install the app

    Download Trezor Suite for Windows, macOS or Linux, or open the browser version. Verify you are on the official source before downloading anything.

  2. Connect the device

    Plug the hardware wallet in with the cable supplied. Suite detects the model and offers the correct setup path for new or existing devices.

  3. Set PIN and backup

    Choose a PIN on the device itself and write the recovery seed down on paper or metal. Never photograph it, never type it into a webpage, never share it with support.

  4. Receive and verify

    Generate a receive address, check it on the device screen, then send a small test amount first. Confidence comes from having watched one transaction through end to end.

One habit prevents most losses

Read every address and every amount on the hardware screen, not the computer screen. If a message, pop-up or phone call tells you to "validate" or "sync" your wallet by entering the seed, it is always an attempt to take your funds.
